I'm back!

Bet you didn't think it was gonna happen.
Sorry for disappearing for such a long time. I was caught up in life (yes, I do have one), but no trivial matters like life or reality are gonna keep me away from obsessing over Ichiro .. not for too long anyway. To update about my life for those who care, I am back in Canada after the one-year stint in Japan. It was fun while it lasted, but I was actually too busy to follow Ichiro when I was living in his native country. As it turned out, I only got to buy a few magazines featuring Ichiro and watch him on TV a few times and nothing else. Wish I had had the opportunity to visit the Ichiro museum, but it'll have to wait until I go back to Japan next time.
Now I'm back, it's business as usual. I'll post about Mariners games and everything and anything related to Ichiro. Again, this is just an outlet for my Ichiro obsession, so there will be a lot of fangirling going on here. Yap, business as usual. -:)

Ichiro quotes
I'm going to start compiling Ichiro quotes. Ichi gives the funnies quotes ever. I think most of his funny quotes result from the combination of the too literal translation from Japanese to English and his dry sense of humour. It would have taken a while for me to dig out all the quotes and list them here, but
someone cool already compiled a nice list of quotes. I will be adding more quotes myself whenever I find them, either funny ones or insightful ones. You guys are welcome to add more too by commenting here.

A's vs M's 2nd game
I watching the game live right now online. It's the 4th inning and the M's are winning 1-0 against a very tough pitcher. Not sure how long Weaver can last without giving up a run ... he's living on the edge. The M's has gotta stop stranding runners! Ichi is not doing well. He's 0-2 so far. C'mon, get a hit for me!

I'm back .. I think
I feel so bad for neglecting this site. It has been 3 months since I last updated here. My only excuse is that I started a new job back in April, which has kept me from doing a lot of things I enjoy doing, such as watching baseball and worshiping Ichiro. I still try to follow the Mariners and Ichiro whenever I can, but I just couldn't find the energy or the time to update here. Now that work has settled down, however, I started to miss posting about Ichiro and talking to other fans here. So I'm back .. sort of. I'll try to update as often as I can, but most of all, I just need a place to squee about Ichiro. If you've been following Ichiro, you'd know that our boy is having a phenomenal year. He's hitting .369 at this moment with 39 runs already batted in, 57 runs scored and 23 bases stolen. He's also drawing a lot more walks this year. On top of all that, he has just been selected to start in his 7th consecutive All-Star Game. This season is shaping up to be a career year for Ichiro.
Following his lead, the M's are also having the best season so far of the last 4 years. Even though they just lost two games in a row to the Kansas Royals, they are still right in the race for the playoffs. The big news is, of course, the resignation of manager Mike Hargrove, which came unexpectedly but not wholly unwelcome. Ichiro had had issues with him in the past, so had many fans. Even though his time for leaving is kind of odd, I think it might be for the better in the long run. Now hopefully the Mariners will recover from the distraction and their two losses and start another winning streak. I'm honestly excited about this season. The M's still aren't that great, but they might just be good enough this year to have a fighting chance to keep Ichiro in Seattle, if not to get into the playoffs. This is going to be a great year for Ichiro fans
More on Ichiro next post.

Hiatus

The time has come to officially put this blog on hiatus. I won't be able to update on this blog for a couple of months from now on because I'm moving to a new country. Yap, I'm leaving for Taiwan in a week, and I'll be staying there for a year or two while my boyfriend goes to Japan on an exchange program. This is a pretty sudden decision on my part, so you can imagine how hectic things are right now for me.
I'm sorry I haven't spent any time on this blog lately, and now I won't be able to blog about Ichiro for another month or two, not until I settle in my new environment anyway. However, I'm not ready to give up this blog, nor have I given up my love for Ichiro (impossible! -:) I know Ichi has been slumping, and I have no idea what's wrong with him. I just hope he gets out of this prolonged slump of his, so we can all cheer him on when he tries to get his 200th hit this year.
Even though this blog is on hiatus, you guys are still welcome to come here and discuss Ichiro with other fans anytime you want. Let's keep the Ichiro love going!
Go Ichiro!

Damn it!
Is it me or has Ichiro been too often the victim of a very good denfense lately? He just got robbed another RBI because some guy made a good catch. This is not a good year for our boy luck-wise. He's also been slumping .. maybe it's because I haven't been spending time worshipping him as much? I'm ashamed.
1-1 tie right now. Go M's!
Edit: Yay! We won! Richie's walkoff grand slam was beautiful. And it all started with Ichiro's lead-off double! Great game.

Ichiro Fest 2006
The delayed update is finally here! I finally got around to uploading pictures and videos of Ichiro sent in by
tomar13. Here's the cute little story about her trip to the Yankee Stadium when the Mariners were playing the Yankees last month:
... We have video of him stretching, stretching some more, and at bat. I don't know if she got any from him in the outfield. Oh, and video of him leaving the stadium on getaway day (so hot!!!). He didn't sign any autographs :( but we did manage to embarass ourselves in front of the Japanese media. :) Which, well, was to be expected. We were waiting just behind the Mariner's dugout before the game on Tuesday, and he was playing catch with Raul Ibanez (I think?) and after he finished, he was jogging back into the dugout, I had my baseball and a Sharpie, so she and I yelled "Sumimasen, sumimasen, Ichiro! Sign onegaishimas!". (Excuse me, excuse me, Ichiro! Can you sign this please?) He didn't pay any attention, but the press did. Two cameras and a video camera swung around towards us and they were all laughing at the little white girls screaming in Japanese. Good grief. Our 3rd roommate (who is from Taiwan) taught us the Japanese to yell at him, and she was laughing at us, too, when we told her the story. :) Also, she helped with the yelling as he was leaving the stadium on Wednesday. And we helped her yell at Wang Chien-Ming. Because he is hot, too. :)

I'm still here
Oh wow, I haven't updated for a whole week!! I'm such a bad Ichiro fangirl. -:) Starting out in a new job is both time and energy consuming, so I've been too busy and tired to do much on this blog. I'm planning to do a big update soon, thanks to the generous contributions from fellow Ichiro fans tomar13 & mirai51. So check back soon!
PS: Maybe I should change daily pic to weekly pic at the rate I'm updating, lol.

Friends by association
I know I've been slacking on updating my blog, but I just got a summer job at Starbucks, so I've been rather busy (I'm in training right now). One thing about working at Starbucks is that my boss Howard Schultz, the CEO of the Starbucks company, is actually a good friend of Ichiro's. I feel so much closer to Ichiro now, lol.

Just a reminder

Please vote for Ichiro in this last week before the All-Star break. John Damon is very likely to catch up to our boy if we don't keep on voting. I think it'll really make a difference if everyone of us just vote once more (by that I mean 25 times more -:) You can use a fake email if you want. It doesn't really matter. It has nothing to do with it being fair or not either since the open voting system clearly encourages multiple voting. It's really a popularity contest after all (I mean, just look at the top vote-getters right now .. almost everyone of them is a Yankee or a Red Sox).
Let's get Ichiro in for sure!
VOTE NOW!
